BJ DeFrancesco

B. J. DeFrancesco has always had a strong connection to the sciences and Mother Nature. He received a Bachelor Degree in Biology from California State University of Pennsylvania. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Environmental Sciences from Clarion University of Pennsylvania.

While at Clarion University B. J. DeFrancesco’s education was funded through a full research assistantship by the United States Department of Agriculture (U.S.D.A.). The cooperative study evaluated harbor silt from Lake Erie as a plant growth medium for remediation of strip-mine spoils in Western Pennsylvania. There was also a special study on Nitrogen Fixing Bacteria.

B. J. Defrancesco has been in Industrial Environmental Sales for thirty years. His experiences include training, seminars, and public speaking in such areas as interpersonal communication and motivation.

He is a proud father of two children, Tony and Melina. Both children are now in their twenties. B. J. has the personal experiences to relate to children of all ages.

His life experiences and passions come through in his writing for children. B. J. has the innate ability to weave important environmental facts throughout an enchanting story. This makes learning fun for both children and parents. In addition to environmental stories, B. J. also writes life lesson concept books that deliver powerful messages that impact lives.

B. J. DeFrancesco is a current member of the S.C.B.W.I. (Society for Children Writers and Illustrators). He is also an active member in Environment Oregon, The Sierra Club, and the Center for Biological Diversity.
